Fiber Internet Service from TelcomWest

By

TelcomWest is installing fiber internet services all around Williams. For us, here in Sherwood Forest Estates, we are waiting for the permit to be approved from the BNSF Railroad to burrow under their tracks. We hope this will be soon.

TelcomWest asks that you please go to the website and pre-register for service (under Sign Up for Service). You will get a text and email after registering. Please respond to all to complete the process. See flyer below for step-by-step details.

Once the installation starts in our neighborhood, it’s advised to get the service installed to your door at that time. After that it will cost more to come back for each installation. As conduit will be installed in the ground from the street to the service area at your house.

Forests Close Wednesday Morning

By

Williams, Arizona, June 21, 2021 — FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., June 21, 2021 — Due to fire danger, dry conditions, and persistent wildfire activity during a time when firefighting resources are sparse, the entirety of the Kaibab National Forest will close for public safety, beginning Wednesday (June 23) at 8 a.m.

A full forest closure means that the public is prohibited from entering any part of the Kaibab National Forest at any time. Those with private inholdings will be allowed access to their property, as well as personnel providing utility support where necessary, and firefighters performing their duties. In addition, work on thinning and other forest and watershed restoration projects will cease.

Forest Service personnel will attempt to reach as many people as possible to begin vacating campsites and informing individuals who are camping in the forest currently. Campers and visitors to the national forest should vacate their campsites before the closure begins, and the public should cancel any plans for visiting the Kaibab National Forest for the next several weeks.

Though parts of the national forest may receive rain from sporadic storms over the next couple of weeks, this closure will not be rescinded until sufficient precipitation is received to adequately reduce the risk of wildfire, and hot, dry weather conditions are no longer forecast to continue. In short, this closure will continue until conditions are such that the closure can be lifted.

The violation of closures and fire restrictions carries a mandatory appearance in federal court, punishable as a Class B misdemeanor with a fine of up to $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or up to six months in prison, or both.

Stay up to date on Kaibab National Forest news by checking the Kaibab NF website and following @KaibabNF on Facebook and Twitter.

SFEFD Property Tax Correction

By

Sherwood Forest Estates Fire District

450 Little John Road, Williams, AZ 86046
Phone: (928) 635-9837   Fax:(928) 635-9618
Email: sherwoodfire@qwestoffice.net

To the Property Owners of the Sherwood Forest Estates Fire District,

We are writing to advise you of an error earlier this spring when the Sherwood Forest Estates Fire District (SFEFD) set the Fire District’s Fiscal Year (FY) funding request to Coconino County for this year’s upcoming property tax billing cycle.  This error has affected every property in both the Mountain Rose Ranch Estates and the Sherwood Forest Estates subdivisions to varying degrees.  In admittedly vary basic terms your tax contribution to the SFEFD for this fiscal year, which comprises only about 30% of your total property tax bill, was increased by about 18 cents on the dollar.

The SFEFD funding request error increased the tax mill rate from our historical 2.88 to 3.25 which resulted in an approximate overage of $17,000 in total revenues collected.  Please note that this most inadvertent error only impacted the annual tax revenue contribution as generated by this specific fire district fund, identified on your tax billing as Jurisdiction 11249 FD SHERWOOD FOREST EST.

To correct this error the Fire Board directed the Fire Chief to freeze $17,000 out of this FY’s budget.  Next, to provide the corrective reduction (the ‘pay back’ for the overage you paid), the Fire Department’s budget request for next FY’s will be based at the 2.88 mill rate AND the funding request will be further reduced by $17,000.  Finally the $17,000 now frozen will rollover to backfill next FY’s funding reduction/corrective action, thereby leveling out the budget.  Once again the funding of our SFEFD’s vital public safety missions will be determined and guided by our self-imposed 2.88 mill rate limitation.  This action will return balance to our historical budgeting requests as generally practical and barring unforeseen significant or unusual circumstances.

Please note that the SFEFD remains as one of the very few fire districts historically charging less than the maximum tax rate permitted by law.

Respectfully,

Bruce Speirs, Chairman

Susan Hamilton, Secretary / Treasurer

Neighborhood Clean-Up Thank You

By

2018 NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP

Thank You

Good afternoon Sherwood Forest Estates neighbors!

Just take notice as you drive in and out of our beautiful community.  It is so nicely cleaned up.

With the help of fellow Annual Neighborhood Clean-Up Committee member’s, Danny Hunter, Vicki Hunter and Walt Krushinsky and 30 neighbor volunteers we have had another successful neighborhood and surrounding area clean-up and enjoyed BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and sides at the Krushinsky cabin. We enjoyed meeting new neighbors and sharing a fun social afternoon with everyone.

We had 30 volunteers with a total of 160 hours worked and we collected approximately 260 pounds of miscellaneous trash. Thank you, Danny and Walt, for transporting it all into the Williams refuse disposal site.

Any bottled water we purchased and did not use for this event was donated to the SFE Fire Department.

The Committee would like to thank all of the volunteer’s and set up crew who helped to make this year’s clean up event a great success.

Thank you so much neighbors,

Kathie Krushinsky, POA Member

Enjoying Wonderful Neighbors!
